About Touchstone

A specialist New Zealand consultancy. Our clients get the same experienced team from start to finish.

Senior and experienced

Deep experience across engineering, construction, defence, government and IT, brought by the people who will do your work.

Touchstone is an Auckland consultancy working across New Zealand and Australia. We design and build the systems that let a growing organisation deliver consistent work: quality management systems, process frameworks, document control, technical review, and the governance around them.

Each person here is on the team for a specific capability rather than as an available pair of hands, so a job goes to whoever it genuinely belongs to. Nobody has to be kept billable, and there is no incentive to find more work than the problem needs.

What we believe

Put the client first, including when that means telling you the job is smaller than you thought, or that you do not need us for the next part.

Simple systems survive. Complexity is easy to produce and expensive to live with.

Not everything deserves the same treatment. The processes carrying your delivery risk need real attention. The rest needs enough structure to be consistent and no more.

A system that passes its audit and then quietly dies has not worked, whatever the report said at the time.

Common questions

What happens when a job needs capability you do not have?

We bring in a named partner and say so. We work with specialists in technical AI build, AI training and data culture, and workflow platforms. What we will not do is stretch a claim to keep a job in house.

What does Touchstone mean?

A touchstone was a piece of dark stone used to test the purity of gold. Rub the metal against it and the streak tells you what you are actually holding. It seemed like the right name for work that is mostly about finding out how things really are.
